The label layer contains the information to identify the contents of the disc.

2. PROTECTIVE LAYER:
This is the upper protective layer. It provides protection for the data / reflective layers and is also the base for the upper label

3. REFLECTIVE LAYER:
This layer reflects the laser beam back to the detector on the CD player, allowing the CD to be played

4. DATA LAYER:
This is the layer which the CD player reads for the information within. All data, graphics, sounds & music are stored within this layer.

5. PROTECTIVE LAYER:
This is the thickest of all the layers.This layer protects the data on the disc. This layer is where most scratches & damages will occur.
